Serving Our Planet
The research and evidence is overwhelming.
Earth is suffering and we all -- individuals, organizations,
corporations and governments -- must pitch in and do our part to reverse the damage.
e-Planet Server is a green website hosting service
striving to do its part for the environment.

Values in Action
As our
values statement says, we
operate with respect for the environment in which we live
and work.
But what does that mean? OwenProCo, the parent company of
e-Planet Server, is a small company with a relatively small network of designers & technicians. What
could we possibly do to make a difference?
As it turns out, we can do a lot.
As I researched the different actions we could take to
set our values in action, I discovered that there are many
things, big and small, we could do. One
environmentally friendly thing I've been doing all along is
working from home. So do the
professionals in the OwenProCo network. (When I do drive, I
drive a Toyota Prius, which is a hybrid.) Eliminating a daily
commute turns out to be one of the most effective ways to
eliminate one's carbon footprint.

Here are additional actions that we've taken or plan
to take in the near future.
What we've done and continue to do
- Replace office and home light bulbs with CFLs
(Compact Fluorescent Lamps)
- Print less often and when we do, we print
two-up and on both sides of
the paper
- Recycle office paper & other recyclables
- Turn off printers & computers when not in
use, especially after hours
- Unplug chargers and other devices that
pull energy even when not in use
- Joined and contribute to
Environment
Illinois, a statewide, citizen-based environmental
advocacy organization that focuses exclusively on protecting Illinois' air, water and open spaces
- Compost kitchen and yard waste
- To the extent possible, we eat locally
grown foods reducing the amount of energy required for
shipping
- Shorten showers & turn off water while
brushing teeth
- Upgraded insulation on the house
- Drive a hybrid
What we plan to do
- Contribute 1% of gross sales to
non-profit environmental organizations. We are proud to
join Patagonia and other eco-conscious companies around
the world as part of 1% for the Planet. We will include sales
from all of our web services in the calculation; these services
include e-Planet Server as well as
